HID Light Fixture Testers assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of lighting fixtures throughout any facility. All aspects of the system are covered including ballasts, ignitors, starters, capacitors, and resistors for the following types of light: High and low pressure sodium, metal halide, neon, mercury vapor, and fluorescent. Both medium and mogul – based fixtures can be tested.

• Checks starting pulse voltage and open circuit voltage.


• Will test a pulse start light fixture with an ignitor.

1. Make sure power is off
2. Screw tester into base lampholder and turn power on
3. The tester checks the starting pulse voltage and the open circuit voltage (OCV) of the ballast
4. Lamp 1 blinks–OK, Lamp 1 does not blink–check starter
5. Lamp 2 lights–OK, Lamp 2 does not light–check ballast
